The town itself has been inhabited since Roman times and there are various ruins about the city to show this. Fro, the square just around the corner from the hotel you can catch a bus out to Castello Miramare, an impressive castle set right on the waters edge. You can also take a bus to the Grotta Gigante, the largest tourist cave in the world. Going further afield, Slovenia and even Croatia can be visited on a day trip from here. |
