Vagli is situated between San Gimignano and Volterra, and is a highly populated but largely unspoilt part of Tuscany. Guests can enjoy a variety of organised excursions by bike, on horseback and on foot. Itineraries and excursions include; Campagna Intorno a San Gimignano: An attractive excursion through the hills and vineyards of Vernaccia di San Gimignano. Monte Voltraio: Visit the remains of this interesting historical site with panoramic views on Volterra, the Cecina Valley and the Era Valley. Ring leading north-east through the woods of Poggio del Comune: A scenic path leading through the woods from Vagli to San Gimignano. Please note, excursions on horseback must be pre-booked and agreed upon. |

By Car: From San Gimignano: - When you reach Porta San Giovanni (Gate of St. John’s), follow the road to the left around the medieval walls of the city, and continue until you see Porta San Matteo (Gate of St Mathew’s) on your right. - Continue onwards, following signs for Certaldo, Montaione and Gambassi. - Leaving San Gimignano behind you, you will soon reach a junction and must turn left towards Gambassi and Montaione (do not head on for Certaldo). - After about, 2 km you will pass a farm with a tower on your right. After 200 metres, turn left for Libbiano. - Continue, going slightly downhill, across a small bridge, and then slightly uphill again. - Ignore a junction to the left for Libbiano and turn right for Vagli. After a few hundred metres there is an abandoned building: - Take the road leading to the right, ignoring the small road going slightly left. - You will reach another small bridge, where you will see the first of Vagli’s fields (Campo della Catena). - Continue for 200 metres until you reach the driveway to the Vagli residence, where you turn right. From Volterra: Take the S.S.68 road in the direction of Colle Val d’Elsa until you reach a junction with a sign for Castelfiorentino. Turn left and continue on this road, called Cornocchio. - When you reach the next junction, turn right towards San Gimignano. - After about 4 km, turn right towards Libbiano. - Continue for another 4 km, and then turn right at the small junction. - After about 1 km, you will see the entrance to Vagli to your right. From Pisa: Take the road signposted as S.G.C. Firenze-Pisa-Livorno towards Firenze. - Exit at Pontedera Est, and continue on Provincial Road number 11 called Delle Colline per Legoli towards Palaia, Peccioli until you reach Forcoli. - Head towards Castelfalfi and Montaione, until you arrive at the San Vivaldo junction, where you should turn right. - Continue until you reach Il Castagno, and then turn right towards San Gimignano. - At the next junction, turn left towards San Gimignano. - After about 1 km you will arrive at Camporbiano, where you should turn left and head towards San Gimignano. After about 4 km, turn right towards Libbiano. - Continue for another 4 km, and then turn right at the small junction. - After about 1 km, you will see the entrance to Vagli to your right. |
