Siena is about as close as youll get to the perfect medieval city. It even stages the perfect medieval spectacle: the Palio, a breathtaking horse race around the Campo Square that takes place twice each summer on 2 July and 16 August. The only sensible way to get around Sienas walled, largely car-free centre is on foot. All roads eventually lead to the Campo Square, so its best to follow your nose (or the signs) there to orientate yourself and find the tourist information office, opposite the tall bell tower known as Torre de Mangia. The medieval city is built on 3 long ridges, each radiating out from the Campo Square like a 3-legged starfish, and just about everything worth seeing is within the city walls. |

By Car: From the north: - Take the Autostrada del Sole and exit at Firenze Certosa. - Drive on Superstrada Raccordo SI-FI (Siena to Florence). - After approximately 40 minutes, exit at Siena Ovest. - Once you are in Via di Pescaia, a large uphill street, follow signs to Centro-Stadio. - When you arrive at Fortezza, on your left-hand side, you can park for free. Inside the stadium, there is another car park (for an additional fee) available from 07:00 to 20:00. - From the same square, where the stadium entrance is located, Piazza San Domenico, you can access the historical area, only to carry your luggage (we will advise traffic police). - Take Via della Sapienza – Via delle Terme. - After 100 metres you arrive in Piazza Indipendenza, where you can stop your car for the time needed to carry your luggage to the hotel. - On your right-hand side you will see Teatro dei Rozzi, on your left-hand side. - Turn into a small street, Via dei Termini, then turn right in Vicolo Pier Pettinaio, at which end you will find the main city’s street, Via Banchi di Sopra. - Turn right and at number 15 (florist shop in the inner court), you will find Residenza d’Epoca Palazzo Fani Mignanelli. The lift is in the court. From the south: - Take the A1 and exit at Valdichiana. - Follow signs to Raccordo SI-Bettolle. - After approximately 40 minutes, you will arrive in Siena. - Follow signs to Florence and exit at SI-Ovest. - From here, follow the instructions as above. |

The Residenza dEpoca lies on the 3rd floor of a palace, above a florist’s. The recently restored rooms offer comfort, charming decor, room service, private bathroom and an internet point. Helpful staff are always on hand to advise you on local restaurants, places of interest, or anything else you may require during your stay. With just 11 rooms, we aim to cater for the individual needs of each guest. |
