Farchant is an ideal location for activities and excursions of all kinds. Culture vultures as well as sport fans will find plenty to keep themselves amused in the surrounding area. The town offers a sports and leisure centre Föhrenheide, with tennis courts, curling (in summer and winter), a garden with high wire bridge, shooting sports, an ice-skating rink and much more. In addition, the heated outdoor pool at Werdenfels and 2 golf courses (1 with 18 holes and 1 with 9 holes) can be found nearby. For winter sports fans, there is a cross-country ski run and a ski lift for beginners. Numerous cable cars and lifts can also be found in the neighbouring town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen (3 km) and Grainau. Visits to the Kuhflucht waterfalls and the forest adventure trail in Farchant are recommended. A little further afield you will find, among other things, the Bavarian Königsschlösser (Kings Castles), Wies church and Ettal Abbey. |

Arriving from Munich, take the A 95 motorway towards Garmisch-Partenkirchen. From the motorways end, Eschenlohe, take the B2 towards Oberau. Before you reach the tunnel entrance, turn right towards Farchant. Continue to the second set of traffic lights, where on your right-hand side you will see the guesthouse Kirchmayer and on your left the Hotel Alter Wirt. Here, turn left, continue straight ahead over the train tracks and over the Loisachbrücke bridge. Immediately after the bridge, turn left and you will see our hotel. |

The town is just 3 kilometres from the market town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, in the middle of Loisachauen.
