Beaune (surrounding area): This town, set amidst the quiet villages of the Bourgogne region, is the centre of this areas prolific wine trade. Though it has retained the feel of an ancient French town Beaune has adapted itself well to the needs of the many tourists who come here to buy and sample wine. The Old Town boasts not only ramparts and a small pedestrianised area but also many interesting shops. Dont miss the Hotel-Dieu, an old hospital which is a fine example of 15th century French architecture. |
