Through the centuries, Sintra, loved by artists and writers, has been the home of royalty and aristocracy. Secluded in its own private grounds, with huge eucalyptus and umbrella pine trees, the Quinta de São Thiago is conveniently situated near many celebrated monuments, palaces, and the Moorish and Pena Castles. The lighthouse of Cabo da Roca (18 km) - With its dramatic cliffs, this lighthouse is the most westerly point in Europe. Lisbon (30 km) - A day trip to the capital city is easy, on fast roads or by public transport. |

By Car (from Lisbon Airport) - Leave the airport and head towards the 2nd circular road, going west. - Continue on this road and you will join the IC19 motorway to Sintra. - When the IC19 ends, continue along the narrower road, then turn right at the roundabout. - About 100 metres further on, turn left towards S. Pedro Sintra/Centro Histórico. - Continue down towards the old Sintra Vila, passing the Royal Palace (with 2 very big chimneys) on your right-hand side. - Head towards Seteais Palace, then once you have passed it, continue for about a further 1.4 km. - By the only road to the right, you will see a tile sign pointing to Quinta de S. Thiago. - Go all the way down this road (900 metres) until you reach a large white house with a green wooden door leading to a courtyard. By Public Transport: - From the airport you can get a taxi to Sintra. - Give the driver the car directions on how to reach the Quinta. - Alternatively, you can catch a bus to the train station, then take the train to Sintra (the last stop). - From Sintra station, take a taxi to Quinta de Sao Thiago. |

A family-run private house and gardens set in a very peaceful environment on the Sintra hills. Guests are welcomed to enjoy the place as though it were their own home. In the grounds, a large swimming pool and tree-shaded areas invite you to swim and sunbathe, or relax with a book in the sun. The house is nicely furnished and features a library with a piano, and there is also a tennis court. Nearby there are sandy beaches, golf courses, ancient palaces and public footpaths winding through the green hills. |
