The hotel is located beneath the walls of Castelo São Jorge, Palácio Belmonte, the oldest complex in Lisbon. Parts of it date from 1449. In 1997 The Palácio Belmonte was registered as a national monument. In October 2000, the regeneration project received international acknowledgement by being presented with the the RICS Award (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors).
