There is always much to see and do around Lake Windermere, Englands longest lake. You can enjoy pleasure boats on the lake, the World of Beatrix Potter exhibition, the Windermere Steamboat Museum, the Brockhole Visitor Centre, the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway, and the Aquarium of the Lakes. Bowness and Windermere villages are also worth exploring, with all sorts of interesting shops, and many places to wine and dine yourself. Further afield, but still within the Lake District National Park, you will find places such as Grasmere (home to William Wordsworth), Ambleside, Coniston, Hawkshead and Keswick, each of which has its own unique charm. |

By Car (from the M6): - From junction 36 of the M6 follow the A591 to Windermere. - Once you arrive in Windermere you will see Windermere Hotel on your right and NatWest bank on the left. - You continue along this road (Ambleside Road A591 heading to Ambleside), past St Marys Church again on your left and you will find us situated on the left hand side 100 yards before a mini roundabout. - Map reference: SD 407992. |

This elegant Victorian house, built in Lakeland stone around 1875, offers views to the rear over Wynlass Beck, along with comfortable rooms that have en suite facilities, a residents lounge and private parking. Firgarth Guest House is conveniently situated just 12 minutes walk from the centre of Windermere which offers a range of shops, pubs and restaurants. The guest house presents a great location, in between the busy villages of Windermere and Bowness. It is a clean, comfortable and reasonably priced bed and breakfast, situated in the number one location within the English Lake District National Park: Windermere. The guest lounge is comfortable with plenty of books and information on local walks and a selection of games to keep you amused in the evenings. The traditional breakfast menu is all freshly prepared. There is a choice of orange juice, grapefruit, fresh fruit salad, cereals, yogurt and a variety of cooked-to-order breakfasts. |

Please note that when booking there is a minimum stay of 2 nights and 3 nights at public holidays. The guest house does not accept American Express cards. Please note that the Firgarth is a guest house and whilst high standards are offered, it is important to remember that it is not a hotel. Smoking: All areas of the Firgarth are non-smoking. The hotel reserves the right to charge an extra night’s stay (at the prevailing B&B rate and using the credit card given to secure the booking) if they have to especially clean and air the room for 24 hours before another guest can occupy it. |
