The town of Ayr and surrounding area boasts a wide variety of attractions that shall definitely interest visitors. Golf is one of the major sports that brings tens of thousands of British and foreign guests to the famous championship courses of the Ayrshire coastal region. Virtually all of the links courses located within a mere 45 minute drive from Ayr, are of world class standard. Turnberry, Royal Troon and Western Gailes are prime examples of golf courses here, that attract golfers from throughout the World. Hill walking, sailing and horse racing are also major leisure attractions to the area. Ayrshire is blessed with remarkably beautiful coastlines and countryside. From rugged, rocky cliffs and miles of fine, sandy beaches, to historic villages and ancient farmlands set amidst rolling, green hills and meadows; our Burn’s Country is quite unsurpassed. |
