By road: - Take junction 36 off the M6 and follow the A590 past Kendal to where it joins the A591 to Windermere. - At Windermere follow signs for Bowness along the A5074. - The Woodlands Hotel is on the left hand side of the road half a mile before the police station. By Rail: The nearest West Coast mainline station is Oxenholme, The Lake District from where you can travel direct to Windermere. We are happy to collect you from the station when possible. Ideally located for visiting the truly charming surroundings, Woodlands Hotel is a short walk from Bowness and a host of activities on Lake Windermere, where you can also take a trip on the old steamboat and visit the Steamboat Museum. The World of Beatrix Potter is a popular visitor attraction and a vehicle ferry can take you across the lake to the author’s home at Near Sawrey. Doubles, four-poster rooms, family, triple and twin rooms are available. Open all year round, you can make use of off-road parking and a bar and residents’ lounge where you can relax with a drink.
