Strathspey Steam Railway (6 miles / 9.5 km) - this full scale steam railway offers a 20 mile (32 km) round trip between the stations at Aviemore, Boat of Garten and Broomhill (the distance quoted above is from Broomhill). Aviemore Skiing and Snowboarding (14 miles / 22.5 km) - the village is renowned as being a top Scottish location for winter sports. A funicular railway can transport up to 1,200 per hour to Cairngorm Mountain in the winter. The Cairngorm Reindeer Centre (20 miles / 32 km) - the Cairngorm herd is Britains only herd of Reindeer, with around 130 roaming between the Cairngorm Mountains and the Glenlivet Estate. Guided trips leave up to twice a day from the centre to take visitors to these very tame and friendly animals. |
