Kalambaka is famous in Greece for its religious heritage and importance to the Greek Orthodox Church. The monasteries are built on the top of the Metéora rocks, which is located close to the tranquil town of Kalambaka. Nobody knows for sure when Metéora was established, but it is believe that hermit monks first settled on the rocks around the 11th century AD. The Adrachti Hotel is only 1 km away from the town.
