The cousine personally supervised by the owners, offers sea food specialities and dishes from the international school, as well as recipes rediscovered from the past, in particular those based on the fishes from the Lake and the vegetables produced in the volcanic fields of Bolsena. |

Lake Bolsena is the fifth biggest Italian lake and the largest European lake of volcanic origin; about 350.000 years ago, the aftermath of the ground was the birth of the two wonderful islands: Martana and Bisentina. They were favoured by such illustrious personages as Giovanni De Medici (Leo x), Cardinal Tiberion Crispo, Pius II and Paul III. Bolsena and its Lake are not only this: it is possible to see the presence of the Etruscans on the hill of “Civita del Fosso di Arlena”, Loc. Barano and Poggio Pesce. On the other hand in the Middle Ages and Renaissance local culture and folklore have their origin: the Miracle of Corpus Domini (1263), which is held yearly with a solemn procession and streets adorned with wonderful artistic flower petals. Another anniversary is the Santa Cristina, christian martyr and patroness of Bolsena. There is also “il Castello Monaldeschi della Cervara”, Prince’s residence which gives hospitality to the territorial Museum of Lake Bolsena. The most important places to visit in southern Etruria (the area around Viterbo and the Tyrrhenian coast): Tarquinia, Cerveteri, Vulci, Tarquinia, Sovana, Pitigliano, e Saturnia. It would be a pity to stay in Bolsena without making excursions in Orvieto, Civita di Bagnoregio, Acquapendente, Montefiascone, Bomar-zo, Caprarola, Bagnaia e Viterbo all in 1 hour. Moreover Bolsena is in a strategic position to visit Rome, Siena, Florence, Assisi, Spoleto, Cascate delle Marmore and Isola del Giglio in only 1 day of trip. |
